Undead Trailers
You should know by now that we at Call Yourself A Nerd are pretty big zombies fans, especially when it comes to our love of The Walking Dead.
Next year, we get lucky with two promising movies. The first one is Warm Bodies and it is about a zombie falling in love with a normal human girl. Before you make Twilight comparisons, this movie actually looks funny on purpose. Then we have World War Z with Brad Pitt which look to be intense with fast zombies. Both titles are based on books, I have read World War Z and it is quite an interesting collection of stories.

Evil Dead (Remake) Trailer
Well it’s here.
I have to disagree with people that Evil Dead should have been remade, but this isn’t that remake. Yes, the original went all out for that true horror feel, but starting with Evil Dead 2 and continuing in Army of Darkness, the movies became more campy and bordered comedy. Watching this trailer, I’m reminded of Cabin in the Woods which to certain degree spoofs this entire scenario. I’m most disappointed in the gore porn direction this one is going in. And don’t get me wrong, the original had plenty of gore, but this one seems to be using the gore in a way movies like Saw and Hostel made popular. But no matter what I think, this one got the Sam Raimi and Bruce Campbell stamp of approval.
Wreck-It Ralph’s Vintage Commercials
The nostalgia of the upcoming Disney movie Wreck-It Ralph just oozes out of every frame. Now the viral marketing for the movie comes out with three commercials for the fictional “Litwak’s Arcade.” Ahh, remember when arcades were everywhere with brand new games?

Iron Man 3 Trailer
The first official, full trailer for Iron Man 3 has just been released. From the trailer, we see that the franchise may have taken a darker turn especially since Robert Downey Jr. is not as humorous this time around. Not to mention all the destruction being inflicted on the Iron Man armors.
The trailer leaves a lot of questions up in the air for us to ponder until the May 3, 2013 release date.

I hope you all enjoy this one.
The Croods Trailer and A Very Dark Lilo and Stitch
Chris Sanders, director of Lilo and Stitch and How to Train Your Dragon, has a new movie set to come out early next year called the Croods. Check out the trailer.
Here’s a couple deleted scenes from Lilo and Stitch that show Lilo’s interaction with tourists and the fate of everyone’s favorite peanut butter-eating fish.
CYaN Podcast Episode 22: Tolkien Danger Cult
We have a fun episode of the Call Yourself A Nerd Podcast for you today. Your hosts, Danny and Ricky, start off with an interesting side story that develops into a debate about what it means to be “cult.” Then we go on to a bit of the new trailers and news; not to mention we tell you what we think about what we thought about Dredd, Borderlands 2, and Revolution.
Seven Psychopaths Trailer
From the director of In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths is a new crime comedy about a group of dognappers who steal a Shih-Tzu from a crime lord. It sounds like a goofy indie comedy, right? Well it looks like one, too. I’m sold just on the cast alone: Sam Rockwell, Woody Harrelson, Christopher Walken, Tom Waits, and Colin Farrell. Looks like a lot of fun. Check it out (from Machinima).
Skyfall is Coming
We’ve been getting a few glimpses of Sam Mendes’ new Bond film, Skyfall, but now we get a full-blown trailer. This trailer gives us a good sense of the story. The identities of undercover MI6 agents has been stolen under M’s watchful eyes. 007 is benched as only a secret agent can: shot off a moving train. A very intense threat is bubbling toward the surface in the form of Javier Bardem’s slightly effeminate but extremely dangerous Silva. We also get a glimpse of Ben Whishaw as a brand new Q. Have a look for yourself.
Meet Oz: The Great and Powerful
Sam Raimi has been hard at work with a new venture into the world of Oz with James Franco. Along with Comic-Con comes great trailer premieres, including this one. Check it out:
I love Raimi’s decision to not only do the opening scenes in Kansas in black and white, but also in the 4:3 aspect ratio which matches the time period. The small touches of the flame escaping those boundaries will add to the 3D experience for this film, but whether that can be maintained in the color widescreen world of Oz is questionable. The story looks interesting as we get a glimpse of the various witches of Oz. I am definitely looking forward to this one.
