Eminem finally confirmed the release date for his new album is November 5th 2013. He has been teasing fans with details for some time now (remember the hat?) So this fan is super excited with the news. Some of you may have already heard the first single (August 14th) featured in Call of Duty titled: Survivor.
I am feeling a bit of a beastie boys vibe. (Ye-yah) hmm… What do you think? Eminem’s newest single is Berzerk check ch ch ch check it out.

Its time to support our local independently owned record store while also obtaining rare goodies for ourselves. Its Record Store Day!!
The music-community celebrates this day on the third Saturday of April each year since its inception in 2008. So that would make it April 20, 2013
coincidentally the other holiday the music community celebrates. Each year participating record stores have exclusive albums available from different artists.
This year the official ambassador is Jack White of the White Stripes and for some lucky shoppers a copy of Elephant is being released on a vinyl w/ black and red stripes on one side and white on the flip side. In the past other artists have released 7” vinyls usually capping out at 1000 copies.
It is a great way to create business for these places that bring fans together and help us discover new music. Visit the official website for more info and to find a participating store in your area.
“Damn the man! Save the Empire!”
April is here and that means a new round of albums! I have these listed by date of release for your browsing and shopping ease. Spring is all about renewal and the bands this month are all embracing that sentiment.
Paramore has shed some layers and is back with a more mature sound. Fall Out Boy is back with a renewed vigor and some high notes. Kid Cudi is trying to find his own Chronic sound.
I have included some titles of their past hits for those of you unfamiliar with these bands. Spring into the season with some new musical discoveries.

Justin Timberlake apparently just let his creative flag fly while in the studio because there were too many songs for just the one album. Rumor has it, he is splitting the tracks in half and having 20/20 volume two ready to drop in November of this year. Hmmm…. right in time for my birthday.
Jimmy Fallon broke the news on his music forum page after spending a week with Justin, Questlove and the roots. (Have you guys watched the barbershop quartet version of Sexyback? Its great.) Justin is trying to break out of the usual path of pandering to 18 year olds. He wants to make music that will appeal to the more mature generation as well as the ‘after 86 sect’. He told Jimmy,
“why do we put all of our power in the hands of 18 year olds….i wanted to make a joint that 40 year olds would love too. and by the time the video came out all the 86 after sect were aboard again.”
Part one of 20/20 is available tomorrow, so head to your local independently owned record store to purchase your copy, or scrounge up those iTunes gift cards!
I was reading some of the previous Cheap Date articles and realized that there was something missing. MUSIC! I have hand picked a few albums set to be released next month and made sure to include some of their hits to remind you why you love these bands, or perhaps turn you on to some new music. Enjoy the list after the Jump! Read More…
I’m pretty excited to share this news because Eminem is one of my favorite hip-hop artists ever. (Can you tell I grew up in the 90s?) A while ago he was spotted in a customized hat with the years of his previous albums and 2013 which set off a whole bunch of speculation from the fans that a new album was in the works. This time the fans were right because apparently he has been in the studio working hard to drop a new album.
Paul Rosenberg the president of Shady records revealed that Eminem is, “ Far into the process… we fully expect to be releasing a new Eminem album in 2013. He’s been working on it for some time.” Okay 2013…. But when in 2013?? Rosenberg goes on to say, “It’s safe to say that it will be post-Memorial Day at some point, but we’re not exactly sure when. We’ve got some dates locked in for him to perform live in Europe in August, so we’re trying to see what else lines up.”
I’ll keep you posted.
2013 is starting to remind me of the early 2000s. Why you ask?
Well today Beyonce announced that she is working on a new album with Destiny’s Child. It is a compilation album of their previous hits with a brand new track. This is the first time these ladies have worked together since 2004.
Justin Timberlake has teased us with a video of him returning to the studio. News is that in 3 days we will hear his signature voice back on the airwaves. This album is something I am looking forward to because he is back in the studio with Timbaland. That is a great duo ladies and gents.
Pop music is about to get interesting.

“Well, well, well. The f*cking Reading festival. You guys realize we’ve got a lot of songs to play. It’s the last show of the tour and it’s the last show for a long time.”
If you are going to leave for an indefinite hiatus, I suppose the Foo Fighters have picked the perfect time. They have been touring all over the world in the last year. Their latest album Wasting Light had multiple Grammy wins. Plus, as I have said in the past, this is a band that delivers quality each and every album. I will wait patiently until they are ready to come back. Hopefully, their down time is spent well and they find inspiration.
UPDATE: Dave may have pulled that trigger a bit prematurely as the Foo Fighters still have some shows on their schedule in just a few weeks… Perhaps he was exaggerating??? Lets Pray!
Snoop Dogg has been put to sleep to make way for his “born again” persona : Snoop Lion. No, I am not making this up. Snoop is gearing up for his genre change from Hip Hop to Reggae with a name change. The west-coast gangster rapper announced on Monday that his new reggae album Reincarnated
(on the nose much?) is set for release in the fall. During his press conference he played five songs from the album including what may be his first single titled, No Guns Allowed; which features Snoop’s daughter. When asked about what his intention was for the change he explained that he was ready to make music that, “kids and grandparents can listen to.”
This is a pretty dramatic change from his past career and apparently I am not the only one who thinks so. There was a documentary film crew following the gin and juice drinking artist throughout his reincarnation. The footage will be made into a documentary set to debut at the Toronto film festival.
I think that he had a better name in D-O-double G…. but i’m a bit old school like that.
