Cheap Date: July 18th
Caught you breath after SDCC? Good, now we can get back into the flow of things and go out on another Cheap Date. Here I will give suggestions on what you should spend your hard-earned money on nerdy entertainment, all for under thirty dollars!
Hit the jump for everything you would want to spend your money on.
Movies – $18
Don’t kid yourself. You are going to go out to watch the Dark Knight Rises this weekend. We have to know how Nolan will end this franchise. I would recommend watching it in IMAX, but that may be difficult if you do not have tickets already as reports are going that those showings are already sold out. Maybe you will have some luck at the 3:45 AM showing.
Personally, I’m going to a marathon without IMAX. But it will still be a blast to relive that bank scene in the beginning of Dark Knight.
Comics – $6
This week, we only have two books that you need to pick up. Although I have to think that DC really missed out by not having a good Batman comic release this week.
Marvel Comics has Daredevil #15 coming out this week. In the last issue we find Murdock in Latveria where he loses all his senses. It’s bad enough the guy is blind but now he can not sense anything at all. This is a great follow-up to the Megacrime arc.
Then at Image Comics, they are releasing Saga #5. If you are not reading and having fun with this series, then you are truly missing out. After the escapades of last issue, I am more than excited how Vaughan tells this story along with Staples wonderful artwork.
Games – ???
Alright this is completely up to you, but Steam is having their Steam Summer Sale. A lot of quality PC games are being knocked off up to 75%. Some of the great sales include Bastion for under $4, the Bethesda Collection for $50 (Skyrim, Fallout: New Vegas, Brink), and of course the Indie Bundles which vary each day with five games for $10. You might go broke looking through these sales, but for the most part it is worth it. Sale ends on the 22nd.
