Pacific Rim Trailer

Warner Bros has just released the trailer for Guillermo del Toro’s giant mech vs. kaiju movie, Pacific Rim. Simply, it looks bad ass and reminds me why I love del Toro.
I just have one question: why is GLaDOS from Portal doing the voice for the mechs’ computer? Haven’t we learned not to trust her?

After hearing del Toro’s interview on the Nerdist Podcast, I couldn’t wait to see this trailer either!
I’ve always enjoyed listening to del Toro. He has a fantastic grasp on all sorts of fiction.

There are a lot of great movies coming next year, but it’s definitely more enjoyable that an original story is one of those must-see movies.
This doesn’t look “bad ass,” it just looks bad….as in putridly so. The effects look lame and really it just seems like some sort of rehash of a Japanese Godzilla/monster idea. I have a feeling this will be a big flop.
That is your opinion. But I have always been a fan of del Toro’s movies. It is not much of a rehash but a homage to the giant mech and kaiju movies because those movies are generally not made here in the US. Of course, only time will tell.
