Cheap Date: Apr 3rd

Good afternoon everyone! I hope you had some fun pulling some great April Fool’s pranks but now it’s time to entertain you with something a bit more selfishly. It’s time to take yourself on a Cheap Date, where I will recommend $30 worth of nerdy entertainment.

Hit the jump to read the recommendations.

Movie – $11

Evil Dead

Warning: NSFW!

Let’s be honest, remakes often are not up to snuff. Evil Dead seems to have done a great job in paying homage to the ’83 original. Beware though that this movie is not going to be for the faint of heart. I included the red band trailer to let you get a feeling of what may be coming. Evil Dead is one of the movies that I am dying to see but am honestly afraid of.

Comic – $4

All New X-Men #10

The original X-Men have mostly been dealing with the Wolverine side of the X-Men, but in this issue the Uncanny X-Men come knocking and trying to recruit one of the original five. Which of the original five X-Men will join Cyclops in his paramilitary group?

Game – $15

Battleblock Theater

The Behemoth’s first major release since the insanely popular Castle Crashers. Battleblock Theater is cooperative/competitive platformer that brings all the fun that Behemoth is known for. Also there is a bonus if you have purchased Alien Hominid or Castle Crashers, you will get a corresponding character for Battleblock Theater.

That’s is for this week but everything should keep you busy for quite a while. See you next week for a brand new edition of Cheap Date.

This is probably the most unpredictable news I’ve ever heard in comics:

What do you think about it?

Although DC has officially scrapped the idea, the cover is part of their “WTF Approved” covers. It would be interesting to have Carrie Kelly coming out of the blue to replace Damian but I just do not see how DC editorial can justify it. I have seen a couple preview pages from the issue and it looks like it is only a girl dressed up as Robin for a costume party. It is almost a late April Fool’s prank.

I believe we will know for sure who will be the next Robin by issue #13 of Batman Incorporated this summer when Morrison ends his run on writing Batman comics.

I would call it a publicity stunt rather than an April Fool’s prank.
Carrie’s related to one of the best comics ever made, so, now that DC decided to make her come back, I don’t think she will be a wallflower: even if Tomasi said that she’s not exactly the new Robin, I’m sure (and I do hope) she will be strongly present in Batman’s life from now on. Thank you for your reply! : )

What do you think?
