Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Recap Episode 102: 0-8-4

The Bus is up in the air and Coulson is reporting all clear. The air-traffic controller mentions a dust-up on the ground. The hole explodes in the side of the Bus and body flies out. Since when would using Lola to catch up with the plane is a “dust-up”? It wouldn’t. Flash back to nineteen hours earlier. Skye is officially joining the team as a consultant, much to Ward and May’s displeasure. Fitz and Simmons give Skye the grand tour while Coulson puts his foot down. After another “magical” Tahiti mention, Coulson explains to Skye what an 0-8-4 means. It is an object of unknown origin, and the last time they found one? A hammer in the New Mexico desert.AgentsofSHIELDLogoHIt the jump to continue reading but expect some spoilers. Read More…

See Something Cool: Blackmeal – Marvel

Blackmeal describes itself as a “creative production company developing and producing projects… from television and cinema to web and multiplatform…” I love Marvel Studios tag, but if they expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe into animated features, then maybe this would be more appropriate?

Mob City Teases December Premiere

Frank Darabont is a name that I identify with quality. I love The Shawshank Redemption and The Majestic. More recently he helped get The Walking Dead adapted into the hit AMC series. Unfortunately, he was fired during the show’s second season. But soon after, there was rumblings in the rumor-verse that he was working on a new TV show. This show would be a crime noir show set in Los Angeles. Unrest with some of the actors on The Walking Dead set hinted toward certain actors jumping ship. Jeffrey DeMunn, a Darabont mainstay, was one of the first to be killed off. Jon Bernthal was not far behind. The then-titled “Lost Angels” was beginning to take shape. I hadn’t been following much since then, but now I was blown away by the first trailer for the series, now called Mob City. Check it out below.

The cast looks amazing. Not only does it include the aforementioned Jon Bernthal, but it will also include the talented Milo Ventimiglia. Simon Pegg will also apparently have a part in the pilot. I’m definitely looking forward to the show’s December premiere.

See Something Cool: Contre Temps

A beautiful animated short set in a post-apocalyptic world taken over by high tide. Take a look!

I love the use of tides in this Waterworld-style apocalypse. Also, I’m a sucker that can tell so much without a single word. I feel like the strength of character and the painterly style, put this short at a Pixar level of amazing.

New Thor 2 Trailer Punches In

Marvel has released a new trailer for Thor: The Dark World which features both more of the action and more Loki. Take a look!

We may have our first glimpse of Algrim/Kurse (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) behind Loki in the Asgardian prison cell. We also see a Kronan. Extreme wishful thinking, but could this be an early tease for Korg in a Planet Hulk movie? I know, I know. Kronans originally appeared facing down Thor in an issue of Journey Into Mystery, but a guy can dream!

See Something Cool: Controller

This video game inspired short is both beautiful and tragic. Take a look and be amazed.

From writer/director Saman Kesh, this short creates a sci-fi environment and even a sort of gameplay mechanic that has me hooked. There is also a 3 minute prequel, here, which only makes me want to see a feature length film set in this world.

Arkham Origins Multiplayer

I’m a little behind on some of this news but gotta mention it. WB Games has revealed the online multiplayer aspect of Batman: Arkham Origins. Take a look at the video!

I’ve loved the Arkham games, but I’ve always felt they’ve been missing multiplayer. I understood due to the story of Asylum, Batman running solo made sense. With City, I thought a cooperative mode could have been worked in. Now with Origin, we’re finally getting some kind of multiplayer element aside from leaderboards attached to challenges (not my cup of tea). So we’ve got two teams of three facing off with each while also working against the Dynamic Duo. I am just as excited about playing as Batman/Robin as I am about playing against them. I’m curious if we’ll be able to play the gang leaders (Bane/Joker in the video) or if those are NPCs. Any way about it, I am excited!

See Something Cool: PostHuman (NSFW)

Featuring a beautiful animation style set in an unknown future, this shorts captures the twisted action and sci-fi spywork that would make a wonderful series in about four and half minutes. Check it out but there is definitely explicit action and nudity so use caution.

This short from colliculiproductions reminded me of Heavy Metal in all the best ways. I definitely would love to see this get expanded into a full series.
