Ka-Pow 101: Aldrich Killian and AIM
Iron Man 3 comes out this week and I wanted to share a little comic book background for a couple of things. If you saw my Phase One unboxing, you probably caught a glimpse of a fun little piece of memorabilia: an AIM business card of CEO Aldrich Killian. Check it out:
So today’s Ka-Pow 101 will address who is Aldrich Killian and what is AIM. Hit the jump to learn more, but keep in mind: any information from the comics may be unintentional spoilers for Iron Man 3.

Mortal Kombat Legacy Ssn 2 Trailer
We talked about it in on today’s episode of the podcast, but I think everyone should take a look at the trailer for themselves. Kevin Tancharoen is back at it with season 2 of Mortal Kombat Legacy. It looks like there’s been some re-casting and an upgrade in graphics. Take a look for yourself.
Don’t forget to check out Episode 43 of the podcast to hear what we thought.
First Full Fast 6 Trailer
Wow that’s a lot of F’s up there. How about another pair: f*cking fun! That’s what this trailer looks like. After the Super Bowl’s TV spot, we now have a full trailer for The Fast and The Furious 6. We get a large amount of plot info. The gang’s back together to take down a gang of vehicular criminals. In exchange, they get full pardons. A pretty basic plot for a straight-forward action movie. And don’t get it mixed up. F&F is no longer simply a racing movie, it is a full blown action franchise. We also get a good glimpse at some of the new talent in the movie. Luke Evans as the antagonistic Owen Shaw. Gina Carano also shows off some of the moves that had me pumped for Haywire. Let’s hope this works out better. Take a look for yourself.
In case you missed it… Paperman!
Not too long ago, I wrote a review for the Disney/Pixar film, Wreck-It Ralph. I loved the movie, but I also gushed over the short which showed before the feature. It is a beautiful film which matches computer animation with traditional animation perfectly. If you didn’t have a chance to watch the short in theaters, Disney has done you a favor and put the short online.
Let me know what you thought of it. Also, I’ve been watching a lot of amazing shorts lately, so I may try to do a few posts with great shorts of many varieties. Let me know if you’ve seen (or made) any and if I like it, I’ll post it and share it.
Temple Run 2 Out Tonight on iOS
Not too long ago, the CYaN team was addicted to Temple Run. We’ve since been moved on but we may be filling Guy Dangerous’ ever-moving shoes very soon. None of us use Apple products so we won’t be able to play as soon as later tonight in the US, but slashgear reports Android users can look forward to Temple Run 2 next week. Check out this video featuring some of the new gameplay features:
We’ll let you know if this app is as addictive as the last when we get our hands on it.
“Dead Man Down” Trailer
We did our highly anticipated in 2013 podcast (Engress) recently, and movies were unfortunately cut due to time. Danny has his Top 20, but we had many more to mention. Unfortunately, this one still missed our attention. Niels Arden Oplev (2009’s The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo) teams again with Noomi Rapace to bring us a tense tale of revenge. Colin Farrell and Terrence Howard also star. Check out the trailer.
“Blink to the Future” – A Mash-Up for the Ages
There was one series of movies that influenced my understanding and love of time travel stories. That would be Back to the Future. The simplicity of time travel in that movie followed by the complexity of the follow up made time travel movies a requirement. I’ve been blessed by some amazing mind-bending stories, and I’ve been burned by some poorly plotted wrecks. But this love for chronal adventure led me to a great series from across the pond by the name of Doctor Who. Starting with the relaunch, I’ve followed Christopher Eccleston, David Tennant, and Matt Smith play the mysterious Doctor. But now a dream I didn’t know I had has come true. Animator James Farr (jamesfarr.com) has made an incredible mash-up. Take a look.
Awesome, right? And just throwing this out there, I would wear a DeLorean Tardis shirt everyday if there was one.
Dumb Ways Continues
Haven’t been writing too often so I just wanted to assure you wonderful folk that I’m still around. We’ve been treated to Dumb Ways to Die, and Cool Things to Find took its turn. There’s been some fun parodies of the catchy jingle, but I’ve got to say my gamer bias dictates I must enjoy this one. The dancing animation isn’t very good, but the take on the song is great. Good job Megasteakman.
