Hey you got your 8-bit all over my iPod!
The boyfriend is all into 8-bit stuff and I am into music in general. So I have gone on a quest to find a middle ground and though not perfectly what I am looking for I have found some amazing things. I began my search on Sound Cloud and immediately my eye was drawn to Super Morrissey Bros.
I have a weakness for the Smiths and was compelled to click it. What I heard was the audible equivalent to the invention of the Reese’s peanut butter cup. It was the voice of my long lost game boy, but it was eerily also This Charming Man.
I love music, but when it comes to 8-bit… unless it is playing behind an Italian plumber on a never ending quest to save a princess, I really do not care for it. However, for the sake of my oh-so-nerdy-gamer boyfriend I try to understand it. Now i think i finally do. The artist is on Sound Cloud as Lazyitis and also has 80s classics: Just Like Heaven – The Cure and Come on Eileen – Dexy’s Midnight Runners.

New Music – Justin Timberlake
As previously reported, Justin Timberlake is bringing sexy back… again. (Sorry I had to…) This time he has Jay-z featured on his comeback. Enjoy Suit & Tie!
Music News
2013 is starting to remind me of the early 2000s. Why you ask?
Well today Beyonce announced that she is working on a new album with Destiny’s Child. It is a compilation album of their previous hits with a brand new track. This is the first time these ladies have worked together since 2004.
Justin Timberlake has teased us with a video of him returning to the
studio. News is that in 3 days we will hear his signature voice back on the airwaves. This album is something I am looking forward to because he is back in the studio with Timbaland. That is a great duo ladies and gents.
Pop music is about to get interesting.

I’m dreaming of a White Christmas, but Baby, It’s Cold Outside.
Baby it’s cold outside…. So here is your album of the week!
Sssssoo freezzzing. I had to scrape ice off my front and back windshields… The closest I will get to a White
Christmas in San Francisco though. Once I got myself inside, and my blood back to a normal temperature, I was in the mood for one of my favorite holiday albums of this century: A Very She & Him Christmas.
This album takes some of the most popular Holiday songs and gives them the indie treatment. Blues guitars and vintage sounds to really make these covers stand out. I enjoy Zooey’s voice and think she puts an interesting spin on many of my favorites. By far, the best track on this album is Baby it’s cold outside where they swap roles and do an amazingly enjoyable duet.
I loved M. Ward’s album this year and the collaboration between him and Zooey Deschanel is always amazing. Yeah I know, completely pathetic indie pop fan here. Yesterday they released a very cute ANIMATED video for their rendition of Baby it’s Cold Outside and I thought I would share. Enjoy with hot cocoa! Read More…
Robots exact Revenge
It is rare for this music-nerd to find a music video that just sells her on a band. This is a video from a local SF rock band, King loses Crown. Their song is My Revenge and its video is pretty damn cool. I should probably set it up by saying this song is basically a man saying, “if I can’t have you no one else can.” So they take that message and use robots to exact their revenge throughout the city of San Francisco.
I was trying to find a place to download the song and stumbled upon their SoundCloud, where you can listen to their songs for free. Album out 02.19.13 Click for the songs. Read More…
Friday Playlist – Materialistic Weasel

I have been on a mad dash through all the local malls, cyber sales, and even flea markets trying to find those unique gifts for my family and friends. I am sure most of you are experiencing the same thing and in an attempt to help get through those busy malls with a shred of sanity left I have decided to share my shopping playlist with you.
As you can see from the title of this post I prefer to call it my Materialist Weasel playlist. For some reason when I was putting it together I couldn’t get a quote out of my head. In the movie Armageddon, Steve Buscemi said, “I don’t mean to be the materialistic weasel of this group, but do you think we’ll get hazard pay out of this?” Maybe because for every 10 items I browse I see an item that I hope is waiting for me under my tree. hmmm… anyways
Here is your Shopping Playlist for this Holiday Season. Enjoy! (Click to Embiggen)
New Artist – The Weeknd
The Weeknd is a relatively new artist in the PBR&B genre.
Wait… the what genre? PBR&B (a portmanteau of the popular hipster beer Pabst Blue Ribbon and R&B)
is one of those buzz terms used to describe a stylized alternative to the more contemporary R&B; also known as Hipster R&B. Another notable new artist in this genre is Frank Ocean. Let’s continue…
So The Weeknd just released an album, “Trilogy”, which is a compilation of songs from his independently released mix-tapes and a few new songs.
I have listened through this album a couple times and i feel like his songs have potential to be great, especially once he has been polished and drops some of the more repetitive aspects. There is a fine line between catchy and whiny and unfortunately some of The Weeknd’s tracks cross the line. Over all though, the album is really easy to listen to and has great melodies. I think that if you are a fan of this obscure genre that you will be pleased.

Adele‘s album “21” has officially gone diamond! This is a huge deal since there are only twenty other albums that have done this. “21” is the 21st album to receive this honor. (love that bit of coincidence)So this is a good time to revisit 2011 and cue up this album on your iPod.
