Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 1 Recap: Live free or Die

Holy Freakin’ Magnets Batman! I think that this is definitely the right way to kick off a new season of Breaking Bad. Walt is no longer the naive chemistry teacher he had been when we began this crazy journey.  If you have not been watching this series maybe this premise will entice you to catch up, quickly!

The main character is Mr. Walter White (Bryan Cranston) a high school chemistry teacher who is diagnosed with an advanced stage of lung cancer. His mounting hospital costs and impending demise lead him to change careers. He drops general chemistry for the more lucrative career of methamphetamine production. Since he has a well rounded understanding of chemistry he makes a superior strain and with the help of his street smart assistant Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) becomes a major player in the drug scene.

Walking Dead Season 3 Trailer

Coming off reading the landmark issue #100 of the comic, this trailer made me want to go back to the good old days. So many small moments int his trailer that tease classic events of the comic, but plenty of it feels different and refreshing. Take a look here. Be warned, there may be spoilers to some events.

The most ominous aspect of this season is the tagline.

Fight the dead. Fear the living.

Season 3 is coming October 14th.

Explore Boston… in Assassin’s Creed 3

I’ve been powering my way through Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood and about to start on Revelations in preparations for the upcoming release of Assassin’s Creed 3.  This video just proves how much my wait is justified. Take a look.

Along with new improvements like moving blend spots and indoor escape routes, I’m really excited for the new combat system which seems more free-flowing and comparable to the Batman: Arkham series fighting mechanic. It looks there has also been a new update to the Animus. I can’t wait to play this game and see how Connor’s life effects Desmond’s in 2012.

Man, I really need to just marathon through Revelations.

Meet Oz: The Great and Powerful

Sam Raimi has been hard at work with a new venture into the world of Oz with James Franco. Along with Comic-Con comes great trailer premieres, including this one. Check it out:

I love Raimi’s decision to not only do the opening scenes in Kansas in black and white, but also in the 4:3 aspect ratio which matches the time period. The small touches of the flame escaping those boundaries will add to the 3D experience for this film, but whether that can be maintained in the color widescreen world of Oz is questionable. The story looks interesting as we get a glimpse of the various witches of Oz. I am definitely looking forward to this one.

Borderlands 2 Goes Musical

I used to avoid first person shooters. Sure I played Goldeneye, but I didn’t really enjoy them until a little game called Halo. Then, along came Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and I was sold on another franchise. But recently, there has been a little fatigue from the repetitive nature of first person shooters. Most recently, Danny and I have dived headfirst into the world of Pandora and enjoyed Borderlands. Now Borderlands still has a lot of the repetitive shooting mechanics, but what sets Borderlands apart from the plethora of FPS games out there is the sense of humor present in the game. Check out what I mean in this new trailer.

Neil Gaiman To Write More Original Sandman

25 years ago, the first issue of Sandman was released on to shelves. Written by Neil Gaiman, it became one of the most beloved series of all time. It is one of the defining comics in my own personal life.

Since the series end, Gaiman has occasionally come back to the creative well that he used to redefine comics. Only one of these stories actually focused on the main protagonist of Sandman.

Gaiman is now teaming will an artist who has been described as someone who has redefined how comic are drawn. J.H. Williams III has been literally turning the comic work on its side with his art work. He continues to have one of the most complex and interesting styles in the market.

Together Gaiman and Williams will tell a new Sandman story.

I can not be more excited.

Coldplay’s Mylo Xyloto cover and concept

As we wrote earlier this week Coldplay and Mark Osborne are teaming up for a six part comic book series based on the same character as their album: Mylo Xyloto. The panel at comic con will take place today ( at 1pm PST) and since the cat is basically out of the bag already they are able to tell us more. Read More…
