Cheap Date: Feb 13th

It’s the day before Valentine’s Day (or Single’s Day for some). Do you have all your plans ready? Well, if you want to spoil yourself with some nerdy things then I have the thing for you with this week’s Cheap Date. I will recommend $30 worth of nerdy items to fill your week, especially since your finances may be tied up for a dinner tomorrow evening.

Hit the jump to read my recommendations.

Toy – $20

Build-On Brick Mug

The people over at ThinkGeek have crafted together a mug that you can build upon with LEGO, although no LEGO come with the mug. I’m not much of a coffee or tea person, but I will be sure to pour two fingers.

If you head on to the site, you may see a picture of one of the creations with wheels. I think that will be my first transformation of this mug.

Comics – $8

Batman #17

Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo continue their epic run on Batman. We finally see what is on that silver platter on the finale of the “Death of the Family” storyline. Very rarely have I seen a Joker so cryptic and haunting, and I have enjoyed each issue.

Uncanny X-Men #1

Part of the Marvel NOW! relaunches, Uncanny X-Men begins to focus on the opposite side of the Avengers vs. X-Men fallout. From the brief moments that I have seen him in other books (AvX Consequences, All New X-Men), Cyclops has become an intensely readable character. I also enjoy the undertone of two friends who fought for the same woman and now following in the previous generation’s ideals, with Cyclops as the new Magneto and Wolverine as the new Xavier.

That’s all, folks! Sorry about the extra $2. Maybe use it for a nice card, in case you forget something tomorrow. Hope to see you next week for a brand new edition of Cheap Date.

Will I be able to put Coffee or Tea inside and serve it to the misses without getting them sick from the plastic?
