New Premium Rush Trailer
We’ll talk about the movie in our upcoming podcast, but check out this new trailer in preparation.
All I have to say is that he wouldn’t have been almost killed 3 times if he didn’t ride his bike the way he does.
New Bourne Legacy Trailer
There’s a new trailer for the next installment in the Bourne franchise. Let’s take a look:
Looks like we’re going to see this movie take us through various points of the previous Bourne films. Definitely looks like a lot of cool action stuff. Just simply looking forward to some great action.
DC Universe Fighting Game
So we got a peek at what could happen when DC characters like Superman, Batman, and the Joker would appear in a fighting game in Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe. Now the makers of Mortal Kombat, NetherRealm, have made Injustice: Gods Among Us. Check out the announcement trailer:
The game appears to feature a cast of characters including Wonder Woman, Superman, Batman, Flash, Solomon Grundy, Harley Quinn, and Lex Luthor. There’s also the possibility of Captain Cold, Mister Freeze, or another ice-based villain. NetherRealm also promises a roster with “at least as many” characters as Mortal Kombat
It looks fun and interesting, but not being a fan of fighting games, I’ll probably pass. I wish Warner Bros. could focus on creating content that was more original and less reactionary to the successes of others. A DC Universe fighting game ends up drawing comparison to Marvel’s many Capcom games which are strong examples of excellent fighting games. A unifying Justice League movie would be compared to the Avengers. So Warner Bros. I hope you read this (Yeah, right): Make content worthy of your characters like Arkham City that respects the source material.
DVR Weekly: 5-28-12
Life can get pretty busy, so the invention of the Digital Video Recorder, aka DVR, has been a godsend for those of us who love television programming. Well, I’m one of those people. In this weekly article, I’m going to talk about some of the shows I am keeping up with on my DVR. Pretty straight forward, right? Keep in mind this means spoilers. Well let’s get started.
Ka-Pow 101: Looking at Marvel’s Movie Future
As the country has decided to move past the Avengers and onto the rest of the summer movies, I decided to continue informing you about the future of the Avengers movies. Marvel Studios is already working on continuing and expanding the Marvel movie universe. I don’t know all the upcoming details, but I’m going to take this opportunity to speculate based on the information that I do have. We’ll look at movies that have been slated for release, are in development, and are rumored to be made. There will be potential spoilers in this article, but many of these will be based on comic stories. Let’s continue, shall we? Read More…
DVR Weekly: Sherlock Special
PBS’s airing of Mark Gatiss and Steven Moffat’s Sherlock. Three episodes over three weeks and now it has come and gone. So let’s talk about them shall we?
Keep in mind there will be spoilers.
Just to frame this a little: I did decide to wait for the PBS airing of the episodes rather than just torrenting the episodes, so a lot of this information has been floating around since January when it originally aired on BBC. While I am a fan of the character of Sherlock Holmes, my only experience of the original Arthur Conan Doyle writings are from teleplay adaptations on PBS and Guy Richie’s 2009 adaptation. Hit the jump to start reading about this series’ episodes.
Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes Trailer
As I’ve said time and again, I’m a big fan of DC comics. I am also a big fan of Legos. On top of that I am a fan of video games. So of course, I love the Lego games, especially Lego Batman. Well, here’s the trailer for Lego Batman 2: DC Super Heroes.
This looks like the same kind of fun and humor of previous Lego titles, but now we get a full stable of DC heroes to play with as well as a stable of Batman villains with Lex Luthor thrown in the bunch. One thing I’m a little wary of is the addition of voices. So many Lego games have done so well with the silent mini-figs. Minor complaint. I’m looking forward to playing this one.
Bat-narrator, Pinky, R2DWalken, and Bubbles Vader
This is absolute brilliance. Recently, at Emerald City Comic Con, a cast of famous voice actors performed a reading of Star Wars as their various characters and impersonations. Make sure to clear an hour from your schedule to be able to watch the whole thing.
This was definitely a lot of fun. The cast is made of Billy West (Stimpy, Fry from Futurama), Joe DiMaggio (Bender, Adam Fenix), Tara Strong (Bubbles, Timmy Turner), Maurice LaMarche (Brain, Wakko’s burping), Kevin Conroy (Batman, ’nuff said), Rob Paulsen (Pinky, Raphael from 80s TMNT) and Jess Harnell (Wakko, Captain Hero). So many characters I know and love acting the film that has defined my childhood. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.
Neil Gaiman says “Make Good Art”
Hey, Adam Savage isn’t the only one able to make incredibly inspirational speeches. Neil Gaiman is an amazing author whose creativity has astounded me since I first read Sandman. I went on to read his other amazing including American Gods, Marvel 1602, Stardust, Good Omens, and Coraline. He inspired me to stick to my dreams of writing and illustration. Neil Gaiman was at the University of the Arts 2012 graduation ceremony and this is what he said.
Now he’s making me question my return to school (don’t worry I’m staying in school this time), but just like my brother, words like these inspired me to create Call Yourself a Nerd. Whatever you want to do, just do it. Make something. Make good art. Be inspired. And don’t give up.

Sorry about the lateness of this post. The Sherlock special post will be coming up this weekend.
Community – Eps. 3.20-22 “Digital Estate Planning”, “The First Chang Dynasty”, “Introduction to Finality”
These were some amazing episodes. An 8-bit episode where we get “Troy and Abed spitting lava!” “The First Chang Dynasty” rounds out the over-arcing story of Chang’s takeover. It was a great homage to Heist movies specifically Ocean’s Eleven. And finally “Introduction to Finality” wraps up the season nicely. We get some resolution on the Evil Abed thread and Troy’s destiny in the Air Conditioning School. This episode definitely had an interesting sense of “finality”. On one hand, the question of cancellation loomed over head while writing this episode, but on the other, the fact that Dan Harmon will be leaving raises the question of how well the show can do without him.
Young Justice – Ep. 2.04 “Salvage”
In this episode, we find out where the other three missing members from five years ago have gone. Wally/Kid Flash has retired to settle down with Artemis. I thought it interesting that Wally is benched at a time that he is missing in the DCnU. We also found out that Roy is on the hunt for the original Speedy. There is an intervention of sorts featuring Wally, Dick, Green Arrow, Black Canary, and the Guardian. The parallels between Roy’s unwavering focus and Speedy’s drug addiction in the comics are apparent, but very well done. We also learn that Cheshire and Roy have had Lian. If this show doesn’t make you nostalgic for the old DCU, you haven’t been reading comics long.
Short list this week so I can focus on Sherlock.
I’ll see you all next week… same DVR channel… same DVR time…
