See Something Cool: Controller

This video game inspired short is both beautiful and tragic. Take a look and be amazed.

From writer/director Saman Kesh, this short creates a sci-fi environment and even a sort of gameplay mechanic that has me hooked. There is also a 3 minute prequel, here, which only makes me want to see a feature length film set in this world.

Robert Downey JR. Signs on For More Iron Man

Hmmm…. Looks like we will have Robert Downey Jr. back for Avengers 2 and 3.

Weeks ago Joss Whedon said, “I have no intention of making Avengers 2 without him, nor do I think I’ll be called upon to do that. … But I loved working with Robert, and everybody knows he embodied that role in a way no one else can.”

Now it is official (Marvel confirmed) and we have RDJ for two more movies. I guess when you make 1.5 billion from the first movie it is pretty good incentive to make those fans happy with the next two movies.

Avengers 2 is slotted for May 2015.

New Pacific Rim Trailer Gives a Lot More than Just Some Story

At WonderCon a few weeks ago, Warner Bros and Legendary Pictures showed off a brand-spanking new trailer for Pacific Rim. Well, now they’ve decided to share it with those who weren’t able to get down to Anaheim. Take a look!

Yes, I admitted Guillermo del Toro wouldn’t be high on my list for a Wonder Woman movie, but I cannot wait for this to come out! In the trailer, we get a little bit more of the character-driven stuff. I can only assume star Charlie Hunnam’s character, Raleigh Becket, loses his original Jaeger co-pilot and has to train newcomer Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi). We also get some glimpses of Charlie Day and Idris Elba, but most importantly, there’s some all-new footage of Jaeger on Kaiju violence. Now excuse me, those last thirty seconds made me need to change my pants.

Ka-Pow 101: Aldrich Killian and AIM

Iron Man 3 comes out this week and I wanted to share a little comic book background for a couple of things. If you saw my Phase One unboxing, you probably caught a glimpse of a fun little piece of memorabilia: an AIM business card of CEO Aldrich Killian. Check it out:

So today’s Ka-Pow 101 will address who is Aldrich Killian and what is AIM. Hit the jump to learn more, but keep in mind: any information from the comics may be unintentional spoilers for Iron Man 3.

Sound City’s butterfly Effect.

“In chaos theory, the butterfly effect is the sensitive dependence on initial conditions, where a small change at one place in a deterministic nonlinear system can result in large differences to a later state. ”

This documentary chronicles how a studio changed music history forever. Beatles mania lead to the creation of Sound City, their Neve board lead to Fleetwood Mac and on and on. So many bands were born there and it shows how much Sound City meant to these artists. Dave Grohl had his pick of participants for this documentary and created a soundtrack to commemorate its influence in rock n’ roll history.

I highly recommend this for music fans and pop culture enthusiasts. Maybe you history buffs would enjoy it as well. Audibly amazing and equally stunning visually. Dave Grohl’s enthusiasm for this project really shaped this documentary into something rare. You begin to care for this delapitated building just because of the influence it has had on so many people. Grohl’s featured guests are all top notch and watching them perform together in Studio 606 is a once in a lifetime moment captured on film.

This is a must watch.

Mickey Goes for Croissants

Mickey Mouse has been in only a handful of shorts in the past thirty years. Quite a difference from a character that started his rise in shorts (Get it? Because he wears shorts). Disney has now set up to release a full series of shorts within the next few months, but there’s a catch. Unlike previously shorts, these shorts will be featured on TV and online instead of the movie theater.

The first short was released yesterday, titled Croissant de Triomphe. There are some great gags and I’m absolutely in love with the art style that they have chosen.

Kick-Ass 2 Unleashes Its Red Bad Trailer

What better way to release a first trailer than to immediately going for a red band trailer? Kick-Ass 2 definitely goes for the balls for this trailer and shows how outrageous the movie can get. The first movie was a great adaptation from the graphic novel, now begins the questions of how they will adapt this movie from its corresponding graphic novel.

Jim Carrey is showing some great moments already!

Blast past the jump to watch the trailer, but be warned that the trailer is NSFW.
