Gaiman Returns to Marvel with Angela

Neil Gaiman is returning to writing for Marvel Comics after an extended period away from the industry. What has the world in a titter is the fact that Gaiman is bringing along a character that has never appeared in a Marvel comic but was a main character for another company’s main series.
In case you can not see the big picture, hit the jump to see who it is.
After an extended legal battle with Todd McFarlane over the rights of some of the characters that Gaiman helped create, a private settlement was reached and we awaited to find out the fallout. Apparently Gaiman would claim the complete rights of Angela and any of the other angels that appeared in the series Spawn.
Gaiman brings Angela to the Marvel Universe in this year’s mega-event, “Age of Ultron.” She will appear in issue #10 of the series as well as issue #5 of Guardians of the Galaxy, which will be co-written by Brian Bendis with Neil Gaiman, where she will join the team. Now begins the speculation of whether Angela will join the cast of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie that Marvel Studios is currently working on. To further the speculation, we now have to wonder if Marvelman/Miracleman will finally make an appearance after decades of legal limbo.
In case you do not know who Angela is: Angela, created by McFarlane and Gaiman, is a bounty hunter who becomes one of the main opponents to Spawn of Image Comics. She first appeared in issue #9 of Spawn (which raised from $3 per issue to $70) where she battled the recently resurrected Hellspawn, Al Simmons. Pretty simple, no? I can not imagine that they will change her back story all too much for her foray into Marvel.
The implication of this announcement is astonishing and I can not wait to see what becomes of it.
