See Something Cool: Contre Temps
A beautiful animated short set in a post-apocalyptic world taken over by high tide. Take a look!
I love the use of tides in this Waterworld-style apocalypse. Also, I’m a sucker that can tell so much without a single word. I feel like the strength of character and the painterly style, put this short at a Pixar level of amazing.

Breaking Bad Season 5 Episode 9 Recap: Blood Money
Christmas in August!
Breaking Bad is back, and so am I with your Breaking Bad Recap of S5 E9! It has been about a year since the first half so please feel free to utilize our recaps for the previous episodes. Also, for those of you with a Netflix subscription can go back and watch from the beginning. I was so excited for Blood Money because episode eight left us with so many questions.
What were the results of Walt’s full body scan?
What will Jesse do with the money?
Hank found the W.W. inscription, what’s next?
Is Skylar ready to forgive and move on now that Walt has retired?
Now that Walt is retired, what does that mean for his meth empire?
I’ll let you know that after the jump I have the answers to most of these questions. This episode covered a lot of ground and unearthed a lot more questions. Hit the jump for a full recap of Season 5 Episode 9: Blood Money. Read More…
That Voice: and the women it belongs to … a playlist.
A distinct voice is hard to come by and lately I have been trying to put together a playlist that showcases the deeper side of a woman’s voice. I keep searching for that voice, the one that will just make me stop what I am doing and listen.
After searching the deep corners of my library and using my shazam app at every turn, I have created an amazing playlist. Ahem, if I do say so myself. (shines nails on shirtfront)
Amy Winehouse was such an amazing talent and her voice helped so many women showcase their sound. There will always be a place for the Whitney’s and the Mariah’s on the airwaves, but once in a while I am looking for something different and it is such a shame when you have to travel to the oldies section to get it. Major Nelson Unboxes the Xbox One
Today we see our first next-gen unboxing (3 months early) as Microsoft’s Larry Hryb, better known as Major Nelson, unveils what will come out of the box for the Xbox One.
We’ve heard what is coming with the console, but it’s nice to see it all to put into perspective. Not to mention, it’s nice to know that Microsoft is actually including a headset (although another reversal).
The true next-gen of consoles does not start for another few months, but it sounds like more reveals will be at Gamescom.
Head past the jump to watch the unboxing video as well as a few other videos Xbox released yesterday.
New Thor 2 Trailer Punches In
Marvel has released a new trailer for Thor: The Dark World which features both more of the action and more Loki. Take a look!
We may have our first glimpse of Algrim/Kurse (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje) behind Loki in the Asgardian prison cell. We also see a Kronan. Extreme wishful thinking, but could this be an early tease for Korg in a Planet Hulk movie? I know, I know. Kronans originally appeared facing down Thor in an issue of Journey Into Mystery, but a guy can dream!
New Ender’s Game Trailer Annihilates
Ender’s Game continues to be one of my favorite science fiction books (regardless of author’s opinions I don’t agree with and possible boycotts). I’ve anticipated this movie all year and they just released the second full trailer.
This is a great second trailer because it shows a lot of the action beats and little bit of the drama behind it all. The Battle Room looks gorgeous, the Command School scenes are even more vivid that I imagined. All in all, the trailer looks great.
Don’t just take my work for it; hit the jump to see it for yourself.
See Something Cool: A Real Wall-E
Currently, it is Geek Week on YouTube and several of our favorite channels are pulling out all the stops to strut their stuff. The folks from Tested featured Mike McMaster who creates real life robots. Him and his group previously worked on a functional R2-D2, but now they are building a robot that has tugged at all our heart-strings.
From its namesake Pixar film, a real life Wall-E rolls out of the screen and into our world. With a little elbow grease, Mike has captured the CGI robot by constructing something you can play with.
Steamroll past the jump to watch the video.
See Something Cool: Controller
This video game inspired short is both beautiful and tragic. Take a look and be amazed.
From writer/director Saman Kesh, this short creates a sci-fi environment and even a sort of gameplay mechanic that has me hooked. There is also a 3 minute prequel, here, which only makes me want to see a feature length film set in this world.
