Pacific Rim Virals Out Today (Updated)
Guillermo del Toro is working on an American version of giant robots versus kaiju movie called Pacific Rim. You may have heard Ricky and me talk a little about it on the podcast. If you are unfamiliar with what kaiju is then think of Godzilla or any other Japanese giant monster and that will be your answer. We have only recieved little snippits and the official trailer is about two weeks away from releasing, but today a few viral videos and images released on the internet and we are all grateful for it.
This is a video of the test for the Kaiju Emergency Alert System

New Artist – The Weeknd
The Weeknd is a relatively new artist in the PBR&B genre.
Wait… the what genre? PBR&B (a portmanteau of the popular hipster beer Pabst Blue Ribbon and R&B)
is one of those buzz terms used to describe a stylized alternative to the more contemporary R&B; also known as Hipster R&B. Another notable new artist in this genre is Frank Ocean. Let’s continue…
So The Weeknd just released an album, “Trilogy”, which is a compilation of songs from his independently released mix-tapes and a few new songs.
I have listened through this album a couple times and i feel like his songs have potential to be great, especially once he has been polished and drops some of the more repetitive aspects. There is a fine line between catchy and whiny and unfortunately some of The Weeknd’s tracks cross the line. Over all though, the album is really easy to listen to and has great melodies. I think that if you are a fan of this obscure genre that you will be pleased.
New Single – Bruno Mars’ Moonshine
I am excited for the release of Unorthodox Jukebox next month. “Moonshine” is the third single that Bruno Mars has released and it feels like a bit of a filler track for me. Perhaps he was listening to some vintage Michael Jackson while writing it, because I feel like I have heard this song before. Let me know what you think. Enjoy!
CYaN Podcast Episode 30: My Mouth Goes Off Before My Head

Have fun listening to this one, there’s a fun treat in the beginning.
Friday Finale Playlist – Twilight Saga Edition
Okay before you start hurling digital rotten produce at my head, hear me out! The Twilight Saga is coming to a long awaited end and this music nerd has mixed feelings about it. I am a fan of the books, but the movies fall short for me. The best thing about the movies were the soundtracks anyway. These soundtracks are like a love letter to indie music. You know, its that stuff that hipsters liked before it became mainstream? Indie music gets a bad rap, but i think it is one of the most original genres right now. Perhaps its prevalence is partially due to the effect that Twilight Saga has had on pop culture. So this Friday playlist is an hour of music from the five Twilight Saga soundtracks. Enjoy!
