Sinister Six in Amazing Spider-Man Sequel?

Amazing Spider-Man just released on Blu-ray/DVD last Friday and many people are already trying to guess who will be in the sequel. From end scene of Amazing Spider-Man, I believe that the person talking with Curt Conners to be the Vulture. Where Ricky thinks that the person is actually Electro, especially with news that Jamie Foxx would like to take on the role.

What if we are both correct?

Skyfall Review

What You Need to Know:

Daniel Craig returns to the role of MI6 agent, James Bond, under the watchful eye of Sam Mendes (Jarhead). He is joined at MI6 by the perrenial Dame Judi Dench and newcomers Ralph Fiennes as Gareth Mallory, Ben Whishaw as Q, and Naomie Harris as Eve. MI6 must take on the mysterious and sinister Silva played by Javier Bardem. This film chronicles the story as Bond hunts down a terrorist who has stolen a hard drive which contains the identities of all NATO agents currently undercover.

Warning: I try to avoid spoilers in my reviews, but sometimes it is inevitable. Keep that in mind as you proceed past the jump.

Famous Frontman Friday : Dave Grohl

For a change of pace I have compiled a collection of Dave Grohl hits. For those of you scratching your head right now here is the low down. Dave Grohl is a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, writer, & all around awesome performer. He is perhaps best known as the frontman of the Foo Fighters. They have had several hits and tour all over the world. He was also the drummer for Nirvana and collaborated with Cobain on many songs including Heart Shaped Box and Marigold. In addition to his frontman duties, he will occasionally step in as a drummer for Queens of the Stoneage and other bands. One of my favorite guest-drum-stints was his work on “With Teeth” for Nine Inch Nails. C’mon you have Trent Reznor and Dave Grohl on the same album! Epic.

Okay I will halt my fangirl admiration and get to the good stuff. Below you shall find a list of the best known Grohl. Please Enjoy!

Undead Trailers

You should know by now that we at Call Yourself A Nerd are pretty big zombies fans, especially when it comes to our love of The Walking Dead.

Next year, we get lucky with two promising movies. The first one is Warm Bodies and it is about a zombie falling in love with a normal human girl. Before you make Twilight comparisons, this movie actually looks funny on purpose. Then we have World War Z with Brad Pitt which look to be intense with fast zombies. Both titles are based on books, I have read World War Z and it is quite an interesting collection of stories.

Trailer for Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome

One of the best science fiction shows of this generation isthe Battlestar Galactica remake. After the failed spin-off of Caprica, Syfy announced that Battlestar Galactica: Blood & Chrome set during the First Cylon War would come to television. Unfortunately, the TV series was scrapped and a stand alone movie will take its place.

The people at Machinima are now planning to air the movie broken into episodes on YouTube before the release of the movie. If the success of Forward Unto Dawn was any indication, then maybe Blood & Chrome will also thrive. Plus it is new Battlestar stories for us to enjoy.

The first episode airs tomorrow. Hit the jump for the trailer.

The Cemetery of Lost Books

Every couple weeks I go window shopping at my local bookstore. I browse the shelves and take pictures of the covers that catch my eye. I know I know… don’t judge a book by its cover. I have been burned many many times for this particular vice, but this time it has paid off!

I have stumbled upon a series by an amazingly gifted writer, Carlos Ruiz Zafon; The Cemetery of Lost Books. He is a Spanish writer and these books have been brilliantly translated. The cemetery is also referred to as the a place for forgotten books, but that is the only inconsistency I had found.

Zafon’s writing style makes you wonder if magic truly exists. His stories are woven in a way that you wonder if it is supernatural or perhaps an illusion to detract from the man behind the curtain. It is very clever and entertaining. This extends to his characters each of whom has a back-story and easily discernible characteristics.

As I have mentioned before I enjoy when stories share the same universe. This series takes place in Barcelona over a few generations, but you get updates on the amazing characters you grew attached to in the other stories. Each book has its own story and the character is linked to the world through the cemetery and their connection to a forgotten book. I am going to explain this Fight Club style. Read More…
